Summary: Great first book on Finance. Excel usage a major plus.
Comment: I read this book and practiced its contents in preparation for my MBA and I am glad I did. Finance requires understanding of many mathematical nuances and combining them all together to make sound business and investment decisions is inherently complicated. This book is almost 900 pages long and contains wealth of valuable finance knowledge applicable to almost all decisions involving money and time.

As the title states, this book is about Finance with Excel and only Excel (no instructions or examples using financial calculators). All the examples are explained with Excel spreadsheets and all the problems and solutions are also in Excel. The CD in this book contains all the necessary excel spreadsheets both for chapter examples and problems. I have found the provided Excel spreadsheets to be very good templates for performing financial analysis such as mortgage calculations. I advise to purchase this book ONLY with the CD unless you can download or obtain the contents of its CD elsewhere.

The last chapters are dedicated to Excel basics and I highly recommend the beginners of MS Excel to read the last chapters first.

After reading this knowledge and value rich book, you will obtain a healthy respect for the power of Finance and Excel and you will know how to use both to make sound financial and business decisions.

Some reviewers have said that some of the problems had wrong solutions. I have found no errors in either the problems or the solutions. There are some Financial concepts that are counterintuitive and a solution could seem wrong to others.

Comment: It is not to complicated for an undergraduate with some basic economics background to read. Since it also tries to teach important excel concepts it will be very helpful when I move deeper into finance. I believe this is a very useful product for those who wish to increase their knowledge of finance.

Comment: This book is perfect for learning finance in excel. There are no books out there that come close to this. The book goes over all the common finance topics and shows you how to solve those problems in excel. The book goes over step by step with the problems on how to solve them. The best part is the cd that comes along with the book. It shows you all the exercises in excel so you can check your work and see how the formulas work. I recommend this book to professors teaching finance and students who don't feel their current class is teaching them what they need. This book teaches you what you need in the real world. Professionals of all kind would find this book useful. A must buy especially for the low price. The book is huge! A steal!

Summary: Excellent Finance Book!!
Comment: Not being a finance expert, but wanting to learn important basic finance concepts like Net Present Value, Future Value, Internal Rate of Return, etc. I bought this book because it combined this knowledge with Excel.

This is an excellent introductory book on the subject. The concepts are not easy to understand at first, but the author does an excellent job of explaining them.

The only reason I did not give it five stars is, as an earlier commenter remarked, there are a number of mistakes in the Exercise section at the end of the chapters. Not impossible to work through, but it does slow one down a little bit.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning the basics of important financial concepts.

1- Easy language use.
2- Illustrated with excel, step by step until u reach to the goal
3- Direct to the point.
4- Well Organized.
5- Reference for those who cares about finance subjects.

frankly, When ordered this book by amazon.com, I was less confidence about what it's hidden, as well as the contents of any financial books are the same such as NPV, IRR and much more, but as every body aware that is depend on the writer how explain the subjects.

Professor Simon, has really impressed me about the way that he explained the financial subjects, in addition i like it because each chapters of the book has a conclusion and exercises, for those who like to emphasis their understanding by practicing (Like Me ;)),. (PFE.) very good book for undergraduate and post graduate students as well as people who works in financial field.
the subjects discussed are direct to the point and well explained, however the easy English language used in the book is encourage non- English speakers to get the book and depend on as reference.
