Summary: With this book I passed first time
Comment: This book got me over the top with a passing grade on the first try. I strongly recommend it, it covers the information well and explains what you need to know and why it is important. I read it from cover to glossary and I would have done even better if I'd read the glossary too. The practice exams at the end of the chapters were real good and the 200 question final exam at the back of the book was super. He provides detailed follow-up answers to all test questions which provide a wealth of more detailed understanding to the meaning of the questions and the style of questioning the PMI presents on the real exam. This book gave me the knowledge and confidence to pass first time. Though I think the real life exam was a bit harder than the book's sample exam. I don't think you could beat the clarity, completeness and organization of this book, it gave real focus on what was truly important. You'll still need to spend time with PMI's official "Body of Knowledge" book to learn everything you need to know but Andy Crowe's book is a must. Crowe's book is a bit skimpy on diagrams (showing flow of input/output for each process) but since these are well presented in the Body of Knowledge there was no need for him to repeat them. His focus was on important exam related content and he did a great job of that.

Summary: Don't Miss the Free Trial!!!!
Comment: First, let me say that I've been preparing for the PMP exam for months and, as other reviewers have stated, the books I got left me grasping for answers on the practice exams. I purchased this book along with "Head First PMP" because I used the "Head First" book for another topic and I love their approach. But I noticed on the front of the Crowe book a Free Trial offer for "InSite". OMG! Don't miss this!! They give you a week of access to their on line training that is based on this book. The combination of the on line training AND the book were incredible. I challenged myself to complete the whole book in that one week period and I did. I feel 110% ready for the exam which comes up in one week.
Don't miss the free trial!!!

Summary: Good supplement to the PMBOK to read for the PMP exam
Comment: This book is very easy to understand and fills in the gaps that the PMBOK does not explain adequately. It gives good tips and preparation for the PMP Exam. I have not taken the PMP Exam yet, but many of my coworkers are also working on their PMP Certification and find it helpful too.

Summary: Simple, lucid and worth every penny
Comment: I would like to state that in this case, I did judge the book by its cover and I was right!!! I'm glad I was able to pull it off in the first attempt itself, and get certified last weekend. As the title mentions, it is indeed one of the key resources to help you prepare for your exam in the right direction. The tone and the optmistic attitude adopted by the author helps you in absorbing the otherwise complex content of the project management put forth by PMI in a simple, straightforward manner.
Having said that, and without much delay, let me elucidate the pros and cons concerning the usage of this book, if used in the right manner.
How to use this book:
1) Simple language, covers almost every topic in the PMI handbook with easy to understand explanations, using good examples.
2) Has a seperate chapter on the PMI Ethics and Responsibilties as mentioned in their guidelines. I would recommend this chapter as one of the most important reads from this book.
In view of the above 2 points, this book can be used as the very first book in preparation by aspirants who have just started preparing for the PMP exam.
After the first round of read from this book, I would recommend all future reads and revisions to be done from the PMI handbook, since the book by Andy Crowe sets the tone in trying to understand what PMP content is all about.
How not to use this book:
1) DO NOT rely on this book as the only source of preparation, since conceptually it is better to focus on the PMI handbooks for an in-depth understanding in Fundamentals.
2) Also, do not rely on the exams at the end of each chapter and the final exam as the test of understanding, since these questions are way too easier than the actual exam.
Since this column is dedicated to reviewing only this book, I would not discuss other sources and material for the exam preparation, but overall I would "HIGHLY" recommend this book, along with the PMI handbook to crack the exam.
